Diving THE Similans Information - Similans DIVING Liveaboard

Lying 84 km North-West of Phuket, the Similan Islands feature some of the most well-known and popular dive-sites in the Andaman Sea. The interesting array of islands and marine life help make it one of the best diving locations in the world. The most practical way of seeing the islands is by a dive liveaboards cruise. These cruises generally range from three to eight days. You can find a list of reputable tour operators on this page.

The Similan Islands get their name from the Malaysian word ‘sembilan’ – meaning nine. The islands from North to South include: Koh Ba Ngu, Similan, Payu, Miang, Payan, Payang and Hu Yong. Dive sites around these islands include: Christmas Point – Koh Ba Ngu; Fantasy Reef – Koh Similan; Elephant Head – Koh Similan; Shark Ridge Rocks – Koh Payan.

There’s a huge variety of sights to see under the waves; from coral reefs, gardens and walls to barrel sponges. For the more experienced diver, there are caves and swim-throughs in the area. The pinnacle rocks at Koh Payan are home to numerous species of fish, such as the Leopard Shark, Silvertip and the White Tip Reef Shark.
