Divng Insurance covers three main areas:

1. Insurance for recreational divers diving purely for fun - this usually includes medical cover in the event of a diving related accident and also possibly cover for equipment in the event of loss or damage. Personal insurance for recreational diving is strongly recommended. Many standard medical policies may not cover sports related accidents and more specifically recompression treatment which is expensive and often required in a diving related incident. Sometimes policies will also cover re-patriation expenses also.

2. Liability Insurance for recreational diving professionals. This is mandatory for Instructors and Divemasters in the majority of countries if they are actively teaching. This type of policy may cover the Instructor or Divemaster for medical treatment in the event of an incident also. The primary purpose of this insurance is 3rd party liability to protect the Instructor or Divemaster in the event of an accident. It may also cover medical expenses for those under the Instructor or Dive masters supervision to a certain level dependant on the policy.

3. Business insurance for Diving Schools. This is usually a specially tailored policy that will cover Boats, Equipment, Premises and possibly staff also in the event of accidents.
