Ko Samui is Thailand's third largest island and much of it is still covered by coconut plantations, verdant clad jungle and rugged mountains of granite that roll down into the warm clear waters of its azure sea. The island itself lays 35kms to the east of Surat Thani, its provincial mainland capital and measures 21km long by 25km wide. Nowadays it is a preferred base for divers who are looking for an up-market western infrastructure in the Gulf of Thailand.

Diving Safety
Diving is statistically a very safe sport. You are far less likely to have an accident or sustain an injury compared to many other activities. However in the unlikely event of an incident Thailand has professionally operated recompression chambers as well as many excellent medical facilities.
