Burma (Myanmar)
Myanmar (Burma) & Mergui Archipelago
This destination is visited by fewer liveaboard operators than the more well known liveaboard destinations and offers diving for all levels. It is an ideal destination for divers that like to venture a bit further afield and dive places that are quiter and more remote. Departure points for these trips vary between operators and include Phuket, Thap Lamu (Khao Lak) and Ranong - further north on the Myanmar (Burma) border. If you have the time then this destination is well worth a look - possibly in combination with the Similan Islands on a longer liveaboard.

150 miles northwest from Phuket Island lay the little known Burmese islands of the Mergui Archipelago. Opened to divers in 1996, the 800 or so islands that comprise the Mergui Archipelago, give home to a wide and diverse array of Marine life.
This is a dive destination that has it all whether you're an experienced or novice diver. The Mergui Archipelago will satisfy your needs with the quantity and diversity of its marine life plus the spectacular soft corals and ruggedly beautiful underwater terrain.
Topside, these beautiful islands are uninhabited. Being covered with lush primal rainforest they give home to a rich display of flora and fauna.
Countless white sand beaches can be see on nearly all of the islands, whilst healthy coral reefs make for good snorkelling between dives.

Diving Safety
Diving is statistically a very safe sport. You are far less likely to have an accident or sustain an injury compared to many other activities. However in the unlikely event of an incident Thailand has professionally operated recompression chambers as well as many excellent medical facilities.
